I started my working life as a student helper at NMPAT Duston Saturday morning Music Centre in 2006. I moved up to being the Early Years Music teacher after a few years and have been there ever since! This is where my love for this work developed.
I started working in nurseries (alongside music school) as a practitioner, then in management and as a SENCo.
I have always delivered EY music in whatever role I’ve been in and when I decided this is what I wanted to do all the time, Instrumazing (formerly Music for Everyone) was born!
I am super passionate about children starting their musical journey early. I believe that building the foundations of music in their early years gives children a much better grounding for learning an instrument later on.
I am also passionate about empowering more people to feel confident to sing and make music with their children.
The benefits of music making to both adults and children in regulating emotions, releasing feel good hormones like oxytocin, reducing stress, improving memory, language development and cognition are all far too great NOT to be singing your heart out!
In my 15 years of practice, I have found that there is a significant gap between early years music and when children are offered instrumental lessons at school (usually year 3 or 4).
So what about those in their first 3 years of school? Have they been abandoned musically?
This is where I come in!
I love this time in children's lives, this is where the real curiosity and enthusiasm for instrumental learning comes in and it needs to be nurtured. not only will you start with us, you will grow with us.
